The Value-Focused Family

Ranked as one of the best family cars by Kelley Blue Book for three years straight, the Palisade is a spacious SUV with plenty of family-friendly features. The 2022 Hyundai Palisade comes in four trims: SE, SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy. The SE offers a long list of impressive standard features, and at a starting MSRP of $33,600, the SE is a great choice for value-focused families. Without adding additional packages or features, the SE offers seating for up to eight passengers.

It also offers Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. The safety features that come standard in the Palisade include Pedestrian Detection, which helps to keep the driver, passengers, and those on the street safe during trips. The SE and all other trims for the Palisade come with a 291 horsepower 3.8-liter GDI V-6 engine. Unlike other models for the Palisade, this trim comes with a second-row bench seat.

There are many features you can choose from if you want to customize your Palisade SE. For example, you can add a Winter Package, Auto-Dimming Mirror, or Cargo Package, depending on your family’s specific needs. For the exterior color, you can get the Palisade SE in Abyss Black Pearl, Rainforest, Sierra Burgundy, Typhoon Silver, Moonlight Cloud, and Steel Graphite without paying an additional fee. Like other models, the SE averages 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, for a combined 22 mpg.

The Balanced Family

The SEL is the next trim level above the SE, and it’s the best one for the balance-focused family. This trim has a starting MSRP of $35,950 and offers all the standard features, plus a few extra must-haves. Though the SEL offers the same fuel economy and engine as the SE, it also has a power tilt-and-slide sunroof. Though the SE and SEL don’t vary much in price, the addition of the sunroof opens up the interior space and provides extra natural lighting.

Two second-row captain chairs also offer additional comfort to the rear passengers in the Palisade, but if you want to keep seating for eight passengers, you can opt to keep the bench seating. This trim also enhances the comfort for the driver by introducing an optional eight-way power driver’s seat. The advanced power-adjusting seating allows you to customize your comfort and find the best support during every trip.

The Palisade SEL also comes with a proximity key and push-button start, which makes unlocking, accessing, and starting your car far more convenient. This trim level also offers additional customization, with options like the Convenience Package and Premium Package. By adding these packages, the balanced family can choose which options are most important while maintaining great value. Depending on your preferences, you may choose from a variety of free color choices or pay extra for the Hyper White exterior color option.

The Premium Family

The Limited trim for the Palisade is a higher-end option that allows families to experience advanced luxury features without opting for the most expensive choice. It has a starting MSRP of $45,840. One difference between the SEL and Limited trims is that when you choose the Limited option, you can’t opt for the second-row bench seats. If it’s important to seat at least eight people in your Palisade, the SEL may be a better choice than the Limited trim.

The premium family may choose the Limited trim for the dual sunroof, which offers even more light. The driver and passengers alike can enjoy the upgrade to premium Nappa leather-trimmed seats. The Limited also introduces high-class exterior features, like LED taillights, 20-inch alloy wheels, and acoustic-laminated front side glass. This trim also comes standard with a parking distance warning and Ultrasonic Rear Occupant Alert system.

As a driver, you may choose to upgrade to the Limited trim for the rain-sensing wipers, head-up display, and 360-degree surround-view monitor. The driver can also enjoy the comfort of a leg cushion extension and eight-way power seat. If you’re planning to pack the cargo area full, the Limited option offers the Hands-Free Smart Liftgate, which makes it simple to access the cargo area when you have the key fob with you.

The Family That Wants It All

The final and most luxurious trim for the Palisade is the Calligraphy option, which adds a number of high-class features. With a starting MSRP of $47,290, this is an option for the family that wants every feature available to them. Some enhanced features this model offers include side mirror approach lights and the Calligraphy exclusive roof-mounted center high-mount stop light.

The exterior of the Palisade is also upgraded with the addition of a premium front grille and rear accent lighting. Inside, the Calligraphy trim comes with quilted leather door panels and a microfiber headliner. The driver may enjoy the feeling of the high-end perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel that the Calligraphy trim offers.

Another option you can add to the Calligraphy trim is the Driver Talk in-car intercom. This system uses speakers that connect to the second and third rows and allow the driver to speak to those in the back of the car without raising their voice. This can help families communicate better on road trips and help the driver avoid distractions.
