Do you feel the need for speed? Racetracks around Auburn can satisfy this urge, whether you want to watch competitors pushing themselves to the limit or take part in a high-speed event. From tracks for motorsports to running races, these local facilities are some of the best around.

Hutsell-Rosen Track

Hutsell-Rosen Track is a modern track and field track on the campus of Auburn University. The university named the track after its first head track coach, a visionary who believed that a high-quality home track was essential for his students’ success. It’s come a long way from the original fifth-mile dirt track that Wilbur Hutsell built in 1922 to the high-tech Beynon Sports Surface 2000 track it is today. Modern additions, such as grandstand seating and field lighting for night meets, have helped Hutsell-Rosen Track host key events, including the Auburn Invitational and the SEC Outdoor Championships.

Location: 702 Biggio Drive, Auburn.

War Eagle MX Park

War Eagle MX Park is the only motocross park in Auburn. A large looped main racing track for experienced riders compliments a smaller track for kids. The facility also features a turn track area and a two-mile track that loops through the woods. As a private facility, War Eagle often hosts training academics and club days, along with open sessions that anyone can join.

Location: 140 Lewis Lane, Auburn.

Chewacla State Park

Most people think of Chewacla State Park as a place to unwind by fishing for bream or bass in the lake or hiking the trails. However, it also hosts many local races. New and experienced trail runners are welcome at the events, such as the Chewacla Cha Cha and Chewacla State Park Trail Run, which are part of the Alabama Trail Run Series. If you want to have fun on two wheels, you could sign up for one of the short events held on the one-mile Camp Trail or a more grueling endurance event, such as the Chewacla 6/3 MTB Race.

Location: 124 Shell Toomer Parkway, Auburn.

Penton Motor Speedway

La Fayette might be half an hour from Auburn when the traffic’s flowing, but there are a couple of reasons for race lovers to make the drive. The first is Penton Motor Speedway, an exciting speedway track that’s welcomed crowds since 1981. Grab a seat in the grandstand or sign up for its events featuring 602 late models, bombers, modified vehicles, and hot shots classes. Open practice sessions let you put your car to the test.

Location: 2266 Co Road 108, LaFayette.

Buckalew Bog

Buckalew Bog is another LaFayette gem for race enthusiasts who love getting dirty. The facility features a fast track, as well as the muddy bog that gives it its name. Events see trucks, ATVs, and UTVs going head-to-head in classes, including Outlaw Dot, modified, and small and big tires. Fun events, such as costume contests and ice pop giveaways, create a family-friendly atmosphere. Kids under 12 require adult supervision for their safety.

Location: 7312 Co Rd 174, LaFayette.

On race day, you need a vehicle you can rely on to get you to the track. That’s where Hyundai of Auburn comes in.
