You’ll find a wide range of ELANTRA trims to choose from when you shop at Hyundai of Auburn in Alabama, and we pride ourselves on offering top-notch car mechanic service to help you keep your car on the road for years to come. Here’s a guide to the ELANTRA’s maintenance schedule so you can stay on track.
Hyundai ELANTRA Maintenance at 8,000 Miles

One of the most important maintenance tasks to keep your engine running smoothly is to have the oil and oil filter changed at 8,000 miles. You’ll want to schedule this regularly for the entire time you own your vehicle. Hyundai also suggests putting a fuel additive in your tank every 8,000 miles to get the best gas mileage. Another part of your ELANTRA’s maintenance appointment at 8,000 miles is rotating the tires, which we can do every time you get your oil changed, along with inspecting the brake fluid.
At 16,000 Miles
Our team inspects many of your ELANTRA’s major components at 8,000 miles. However, when the vehicle reaches the 16,000-mile mark, we’ll replace the cabin air filter that helps keep your car clean and the air fresh. This is also the time to inspect the driveshaft and boots, vapor hose, fuel filler cap, fuel tank, fuel tank air filler, fuel lines, hoses, and connections. We’ll take a look at your parking brake during this appointment as well.
At 24,000 Miles
At 24,000 miles, it’s time to replace the air cleaner filter in your Hyundai ELANTRA. This isn’t the same as the cabin air filter. The air cleaner filter helps keep dirt, dust, and particulates out of the engine and the cabin. Although we first check it at 5,000 miles, we’ll inspect the intercooler in/out hose at around 20,000 miles if your model has one.
At 32,000 Miles
When your ELANTRA gets to 32,000 miles, we’ll do a thorough inspection of its components. This is the first time we’ll inspect the dual-clutch transmission fluid if your ELANTRA has this. For models with an intelligent variable transmission, no service or check is necessary. During your 32,000-mile maintenance appointment, we’ll look at your car’s battery, brake parts, steering assembly, suspension mounting bolts, air conditioner refrigerant and compressor, and exhaust.
At 40,000 Miles
Your ELANTRA won’t need much in the way of extra maintenance at 40,000 miles. An oil and oil filter change and tire rotation are necessary, and we’ll inspect most components during this appointment. We won’t need to look at the driveshaft and boots or change the filters, though, which means you can be in and out quickly.
At 48,000 Miles
If your ELANTRA has the Smartstream G1.6 T-GDI engine, you’ll need to replace the spark plugs at 48,000 miles. This is also when it’s recommended to inspect the drive belts. We’ll replace your filters again, too. Our skilled service technicians can take care of these maintenance needs and get you back on the Auburn roads in no time.
At 56,000 Miles
The 56,000-mile maintenance is straightforward. We’ll change your oil and oil filter as usual and take a look at your drive belts. You’ll also have your ELANTRA’s battery and brakes inspected, and we’ll go over the suspension mounting bolts to make sure everything is secure and not showing excessive wear and tear. We’ll check the refrigerant in your air conditioner and the system’s compressor so you can stay cool as you cruise around Auburn.
At 64,000 Miles
At the 64,000-mile mark, your ELANTRA will require a cabin air filter replacement. We’ll also inspect the driveshaft and boots again at this mileage. Expect us to check your dual-clutch transmission fluid at this appointment if your ELANTRA has this. If necessary, we’ll top it off.
Between 72,000 and 88,000 Miles
Aside from getting a standard oil and oil filter change and replacing your air cleaner filter, we’ll inspect your intercooler in/out hose at around 80,000 miles. Otherwise, most of the maintenance appointments you have for your ELANTRA between 72,000 and 88,000 miles are pretty standard. We’ll check everything over to ensure it all looks and works as it should.
At 96,000 Miles
For ELANTRAs with the Smartstream G2.0 Atkinson engines, the spark plugs are due for replacement at 96,000 miles. This is also a maintenance appointment where you’ll get a new cabin air filter and air cleaner filter. Ensure you set enough time aside for this visit, as we’ll inspect the dual-clutch transmission fluid and the driveshaft and boots during this service, in addition to inspecting your car’s other parts.
At 120,000 Miles
It’s a big deal when your ELANTRA surpasses 100,000 miles. Regardless of whether you’ve added those miles just on the streets of Auburn or from traveling all over Alabama and beyond, you’ll need to replace your engine coolant when your engine hits 120,000 miles. After this, the coolant must be replaced every 24,000 miles to keep your sedan in top shape.
