Fuji Sushi Bar & Japanese Cuisine is a local restaurant on South College Street. Because of its proximity to Auburn University, it’s a popular spot for college kids, but anyone can enjoy this restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere. You can come in for a meal at Fuji Sushi Bar seven days a week. The doors open at 11:00 a.m. every day except for Saturdays when the doors open at noon. The restaurant stays open until 10:00 p.m. every day with a short break on weekdays from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
As you could expect, Fuji Sushi Bar’s sushi selection is quite impressive. You can order options often available at other sushi establishments, like the California roll, shrimp tempura roll, and Alaska roll. This restaurant also has a wide variety of chef specialty rolls to meet every patron’s preferences. For example, you can get the Auburn Tiger Roll, a sushi roll with spicy mayonnaise and crab with jumbo shrimp on top.
One of our favorite specialty rolls from Fuji Sushi Bar is the Shaggy Dog Roll. This whimsically named menu item is a shrimp tempura roll with crab meat and a special sauce drizzled on top. With nearly 30 chef specialty rolls to choose from, you’re sure to find one that’ll make you want to order seconds and thirds.
If you love sushi and can’t bear the thought of picking just one roll for your meal, you’ll be in luck when you visit Fuji Sushi Bar. This restaurant offers sushi combos so you can have a little bit of everything you want. For instance, consider the Tuna Dinner Combo. This sushi combo comes with a tuna roll and six pieces of chef’s choice nigiri.
Arigato Sushi Boutique
Arigato Sushi Boutique is another sushi bar near Auburn University, but it’s on North College Street. It’s open Friday through Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a short closing break from 2:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You can dine in or order your meal online to take it to go and eat at home.
You can stop in for the all-you-can-eat sushi special if you want big portions. The lunch special occurs every business day, and you can choose from the regular option or the plus option if you want access to a wider variety of sushi. The dinner special occurs Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday with the same regular or plus options. Some sushi options you’ll find in this array include the spicy tuna roll, the California roll, and the tempura roll.
Arigato also has an expansive menu if you prefer to order off the menu rather than sit for the buffet. You can start your meal with an appetizer, such as spicy edamame, steamed gyoza, or assorted sashimi. There’s also a solid selection of deep-fried appetizers, including the vegetable tempura appetizer that comes with deep-fried broccoli, sweet potato, onion, carrot, and zucchini.
Main entrees include chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, shrimp teriyaki, tonkatsu, and two- or three-item Bento boxes. If you want to pair your entree with some extra side orders, you’re in luck. Arigato offers multiple side orders available for a small extra charge. For example, you can get a side of fried rice with either beef, chicken, or shrimp. You can also order side items like miso soup, steamed rice, and ginger salad.
If you’re dining in, be sure to check out Arigato’s drink specials that are available Friday through Wednesday. On Monday, you can get discounted martinis and domestic beers. Be sure to come in on Wednesday for discounted sake bombs and Saturday for cheap wells and mimosas. On Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, you can access all the drink specials that occur on the three other business days.
Mikata
Mikata is a Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar in Auburn, Alabama. It’s open in the evening seven days a week, so you can come in to enjoy a later meal with your friends and family. The sushi menu is extensive, so you can likely find your traditional favorites or try a new menu item.
You have the option of small sushi rolls wrapped in seaweed or classic rolls wrapped in rice. One of our favorite rice-wrapped rolls is the Yummy Yummy Roll, filled with spicy tuna, cream cheese, and yellowtail. The chefs deep fry this roll to give it an extra crunch and drizzle it in a special sauce. If you’re looking for something with a bit of a kick, you can try the Dynamite Roll, which has spicy tuna, cucumber, and mango sauce.
If you have a few people in your group who aren’t big sushi fans, they can still find something to eat at Mikata. This restaurant has a separate hibachi menu. All entrees on this menu come with a salad, vegetables, steamed rice, and a dessert. You can also opt for fried rice with mixed vegetables and eggs for an additional fee.
With whatever hibachi entree you order, you’ll get to view an impressive show put on by Mikata’s talented chefs. They’ll chop the vegetables and meat at magnificent speeds and engage with the audience to ensure everyone feels engaged and involved. Our favorite hibachi entrees include shrimp, teriyaki chicken, teriyaki steak, and filet mignon steak. You may also choose to get a combo so that you can have multiple types of meat in your meal.
There are various entrees available to meet diners’ preferences. For example, there are child-sized dinners and vegetable-only dinners. For high spenders, Mikata offers options like the steak and calamari dinner and the lobster tail dinner.
