Exterior

Interior

The Sonata comes with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen, neither of which is available in the Camry. The Camry does come with a digital instrument cluster, but it’s smaller than the Sonata’s. It also comes with a floating audio multimedia display, but the display is only nine inches compared to the Sonata’s 10.25.

Both cars have standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and both have available wireless device charging. Like with the exterior, the Sonata just offers more style and comfort. While the Camry comes with available red leather-trimmed seats, the Sonata comes in simple yet stylish colors including black, gray, and in the Limited trim, tan.

Performance

The 2023 Sonata comes with a 1.6-liter turbo-charged 4-cylinder engine that produces up to 180 horsepower, and an available 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces up to 191 horsepower. It averages 27 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway. The Camry has an available 3.5-liter V-6 engine but comes standard with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder dynamic force engine. The Camry averages 28 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway.

Technology

Hyundai Digital Key is a system that allows you to use your phone for everything you can do with a car fob, and much more. You can share the digital key with three other users, and send someone access to the key from any distance. This system allows you to unlock the car by holding your smartphone against the door. Then, you can put your phone on the wireless charger and start the car. Because this system uses NFC, it requires the phone to be in close proximity to the car, which enhances security and ensures that not just anybody can use their phone to access your vehicle.

Though the 2023 Sonata comes with a digital key, you still get a physical smart key that you can use for passive entry and keyless start. You also receive an NFC card that you can use to access the car. This is handy for servicing and valet. The Camry does not come with this technology, which may make it less convenient overall than the Sonata.

Safety

When it comes to safety features, the Sonata outperforms the Camry in almost all areas.
